Keeping in touch

Hi,

I've been thinking for a while about how we keep in touch.

WhatsApp and iMessage provide a running dialogue ticker, with some photos and links, a rapid sharing mechanism. When do you reach the point where that won't do and you need something with more reach and more staying power, something instantly available, a record of what happened.

So I've notched my name on the internet tree. iach.ch.

A few notes from my life in Switzerland — the mountains and lakes, still working for a living, stuff that happens that should be shared. Tales from the homeland — trips to the UK, family visits, the wider family, events, milestones. Music of course, because identity is melody. Reflecting on it all... while it is still here. Nothing is guaranteed except taxes and that time when even the tax authorities abandon you.

These posts will arrive by email. Reading them is optional. There is no need to reply unless you want to. If you ever feel the urge to write back, click or tap on the send Iain a note link at the bottom of every page, or you can just hit reply on the email.

We will see how frequently I can do this. There is a plan and we will see what kinds of things knock the ship off course.

A year ago we went to see a film. The story of how one of the world's greatest rock bands formed. For any budding rock musician the ultimate story really, told by the people who did it. They captured the purpose of linking these two worlds in one line.

From the mountains to the sea, there will still be you and me.

The total sum of all the communication over forty years has built a sturdy bridge between us, let's cross that bridge.
